4 STEPS TO GREATNESS

The journey to greatness is most often paved with sensitive moments when we are faced with a hard choice: to stay at the point where we are or back off due to certain obstacles , some of which are beyond our natural power. Better still, we may feel the urge to forge ahead in spite of our fears, failures and frustrations.

At this crucial points in our lives, we are hard-pressed to maximize our potentials, impact people, achieve our aims and objectives, live our dreams and make a difference in our 'worlds'.

These good intentions notwithstanding, majority on the road to greatness get frustrated and stuck where the are! Why? Because we often don't know how to move on to greatness from where we are (our current situation) to where we want to be (God's ideal situation for us).

If you're one of these people and you desire to reach your destiny, then you can begin this wonderful process by taking four important steps which will nudge you on to the greatness you desire.

According to John C. Maxwell, “To have an opportunity to reach your potential, you must know who you are and face your flaws by seeing yourself clearly, admitting your flaws honestly, discovering your strengths joyfully, and building on those strengths passionately.” Let's examine these in detail:

STEP 1:
SEE Yourself Clearly:

It's important you have an objective examination of yourself. Know who you are, your physical, spiritual, intellectual, social and general dispositions. Examine your habits, behaviour, and character. See and accept the truth about yourself.

Bishop Fulton Sheen had this to say, “Most of us do not like to look inside ourselves for the same reason we don't like to open a letter that has bad news.”

STEP 2:
ADMIT Your Flaws Honestly:

John C. Maxwell says, “You must take responsibility for who you are as a person. That is, owing up to what you cannot do (based on SKILL), what you should not do (based on TALENT), and what you ought not do (based on CHARACTER).

John Wooden advised us, “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.”

STEP 3:
DISCOVER Your Strengths Joyfully:

Take time to examine who you really are by examining your weaknesses and strengths. Your strengths are those 'assets' (gifts, skills, opportunities and resources) you can harness for positive results. While your weaknesses are those 'liabilities' that are counter-productive to your growth and development in life. Know what you can and cannot do, and also what you can learn.

John C. Maxwell says, “No one has ever achieved his dreams by looking outside his areas of gifting. To excel, you must do what you do well.”

STEP 4:
BUILD On Your Strengths passionately:

Be devoted to personal growth and development. Improve your personal/corporate efficiency and quality. Develop yourself through hard work, diligence and perseverance. Learn from your experience and other people's experiences. Above all, welcome change if and when necessary.

To John C. Maxwell, “You can reach your potential tomorrow if you dedicate yourself to growth today. To change your world, you must first change yourself.”

The steps above do not guarantee an instant transportation to success but a life-long process of self-development and transformation to greatness. All you need to have is persistence and perseverance to carry you through, and you'll be surprised to discover how great you'll be through impacting your WORLD!

Remember this:
NOT REALIZING WHAT YOU WANT IS A PROBLEM OF KNOWLEDGE,
NOT PURSUING WHAT YOU WANT IS A PROBLEM OF MOTIVATION, and
NOT ACHIEVING WHAT YOU WANT IS A PROBLEM OF PERSISTENCE.

You will succeed!
